I'd like to invite you to join me at the opening reception of my solo exhibit at the Soho Photo Gallery in New York City on July 10 at 6pm.
Aquarius is a series of photographic seascapes inspired by Chinese landscape paintings of the 10th–13th centuries. The images are printed on a unique kozo (mulberry) paper imported from Japan that conveys a sense of subtle delicacy and contemplation, producing a finished image that references traditions of photography, painting, and printmaking.
I began this shooting this series five years ago but many of the pieces in the show are being exhibited publicly for the first time. If you're a paper fanatic (like me) this show will be a great opportunity to get up close and personal with the work, as each print is framed without the use of overmat or glass.
In addition to the opening reception I'll be at the gallery to deliver an Artist Talk on July 14 at 2pm. I'll speak about the aesthetic and technical aspects of my imaging process and discuss the state of digital imaging and printing in general.
If you'll be in town that week I look forward to seeing you either at the opening or the Artist Talk.
